Tafseer (In Depth Study of the Qur’an)

Introduction & Structure

In this course, we aim to understand the Qur’an in its most profound form— uncovering its wisdom, context, and connection to our lives . Each verse will be explored through a multi-layered approach, as detailed below:

1. Word-to-Word Meaning

We will go beyond literal Urdu translations. Each word will be broken down to its root letters (جذر) in Arabic to uncover its original and deeper meanings. This helps us understand why a specific word is used in a particular place in the Qur’an and what layers of meaning it holds.

2. Rabt al-Aayah / مناسبة الآية لما قبلها

Every verse in the Qur’an is divinely placed. We’ll explore the Rabt, i.e., the connection between the current ayah and the one(s) before it.

3. Summarized Tafseer / التفسير الإجمالي

Before diving deep, we’ll look at a simple summary of the ayah. This will give you a general understanding of what the verse is conveying, making it easier to follow the in-depth analysis later. It also serves as a quick recap of the core message of the ayah.

4. Explanation in Depth

This is the heart of our Tafseer. We will:

  • Define key terms and important Arabic expressions used in the ayah.
  • Discuss the Sabab al-Nuzool (reason for revelation), if available, which often clarifies the context of the verse.
  • Share authentic ahadith related to the ayah.
  • Include quotes and insights from the Sahaba (Companions), Tabi’een, and early scholars (Salaf) to understand how they interpreted the verse.

5. الجمع بين الآيات والحديث

We will also bring together the meanings of various ayahs and hadith that discuss the same topic. This holistic approach gives a richer, more complete picture and prevents misinterpretation based on a single verse or narration.

6. Historical Examples & Personalities

If the ayah mentions historical events or individuals (prophets, kings, nations, etc.), we will provide their background and their relevance to the message. This historical context brings the Qur’anic narrative to life and helps us reflect on the lessons embedded in real stories.

7. Benefits & Lessons (فوائد)

Every verse of the Qur’an is guidance. We will extract:

  • Aqeedah-related points (matters of belief)
  • Fiqhi implications (legal rulings)
  • Moral, spiritual, and practical lessons for daily life.

The goal is to apply what we learn in our personal journey toward Allah.

Conclusion

This Tafseer course is designed not just to inform but to transform. With Allah’s help, by the end of this journey, you won’t just read the Qur’an—you will understand it, feel it, and live it.
